About BJ Wilde
I'm B.J. Wilde, an Australian fantasy author, former marketing psychology nerd, and someone who spends an unreasonable amount of time thinking about why people do the things they do (fictional and otherwise).
Before I started writing novels, I spent a decade working in marketing psychology and behavioural science, studying human motivation, perception, and the stories we tell ourselves. As it turns out, that was pretty useful preparation for making up people and putting them in emotionally compromising situations.
I'm the author of The Song of Stars trilogy, beginning with The Sky Called Her Home, a sweeping romantic fantasy about prophecy, identity, the gods, and what it costs to become who you were always meant to be.
My stories tend to orbit the same questions: Who are we beneath the things we've been taught to believe? What happens when belonging comes at the expense of ourselves? And how much of our lives are shaped by the stories we've inherited?
I like my fantasy atmospheric, my characters psychologically complicated, and my love stories built on something sturdier than mutual attraction; devotion, deep love, and destiny.
I live in Perth, Australia, with my husband and our three daughters. When I'm not writing stories, I'm usually thinking about them, making music playlists for them, or talking about them to anyone willing to listen. An entirely reasonable way to live, I think.
